1. Who are carers?

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to family members and friends with a disability, mental illness, an alcohol or other drug issue, chronic health issue or age-related condition. Carers are an integral part of Australia’s health system and are the foundation of our aged, disability, palliative and community care systems.
